Privacy Policy

In summary,

1. I hold minimal information about you – typically an email address and name you provide.

2. I do not sell or share your information with anybody else for marketing purposes and will share it only when legally required to do so.

3. You can always choose to unsubscribe from my emails by using the link at the bottom of every newsletter.

4. You can request a copy of the information I hold about you at any time.

5. I use the email address you provide me with to send you newsletters about fibre art, crochet classes, my shop, and other items I think might be of interest to you.

6. You may email me, comment on social media posts or post yourself, but you are responsible for the information you disclose.

Privacy Policy

Revised 15th May 2020

This document explains how and what data we collect about you, how it is stored, used and disclosed.

Data Collection

I collect your data through double opt-in methods:

  • at the website www.happymakes.org through a Mailchimp signup form
  • at events on a paper headed ‘Mailing list’

I typically ask for an email address and a first name, to personalise your emails (legitimate interest)

If you have bought something from me, I may hold other details to help me deliver your item or to allow payment to be processed and for contractual obligations, for example using a payment gateway to process credit cards details so I never have access to them myself.

Some courses, for example, those supported by external organisations, require additional paperwork to be filled in. These are stored in a confidential, locked cabinet until 90 days after the course ends when they are destroyed, unless advised otherwise by the external organisation.

You may additionally choose to submit personal details to me through email or social media whereupon the platform is responsible for the security of the data.

Cookies

Cookies are small files placed on your device. I may use Google Analytics to distinguish between visitors and this helps me to improve my site and products. It is possible to turn cookies off in your browser. In addition, Facebook may use a tracking pixel if you visit my shop, to enable you to make a purchase here.

IP address

For security, I use software to monitor the IP addresses accessing my site, in order to block malicious visitors who may try to infect it. The software I use is GDPR compliant.

Data Storage

Your details are stored on a server in the Cloud and are password protected for security. I use an online service to maintain this data and to send emails. This service conforms with the GDPR, although the server may not be in the EU and data may pass through other countries. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of the email.

Mobile devices and PCs which may contain or have access to your information are also password protected.

Data Usage

I use your data to:

  • Send you newsletters about visual art, classes, my shop and other things you might be interested in.
  • Deliver items you have ordered, either by post or by electronically
  • Plan future events, classes and products

I will not share or sell your information to anyone else for marketing purposes, and I will never spam you.

If you would like to see what information I have collected about you, please contact me and I will provide you with an electronic version within 30 days.

I will retain this personal information as necessary to comply with legal regulations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements.

Legal Disclaimer

I reserve the right to disclose your personal information if required by law if I believe that disclosure is necessary to my right, your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process.

Social Media and Links

I use social media such as Twitter and Facebook to share information and encourage interaction in the creative community. You may post or comment on Pages or in Groups but please be aware that these sites have their own privacy policies in place and you are responsible for the content posted on your account.

My website may contain links to other websites which have their own privacy policy which may be different to mine. Please check their policies before commenting as I cannot be responsible for information once you have left my website.

Policy Changes

From time to time it may be necessary to change this document to reflect current practice. In the case of major changes, this will be emailed to you at the email address I hold for you. In the case of minor changes, they may be changed on the site happymakes.org only. You are therefore encouraged to check the site periodically and before making a purchase to ensure you agree with the way your data will be used.

Contact

If you have any questions or concerns about this policy please contact me via the website happymakes.org.

Terms and Conditions of Sale

I gladly accept returns and exchanges for defective or unsuitable products

Contact me within: 14 days of delivery for return instructions

Return items back within: 30 days of delivery

I don’t accept cancellations

But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.

The following items can’t be returned or exchanged

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can’t accept returns for:

  • Custom or personalised orders
  • Perishable products
  • Digital downloads and e-books
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Returns and exchange details

Cancellation and returns I hope you are delighted with your order.

I would usually rather exchange than refund (it keeps everybody happy and the money simple!)

In the UK and EU:

If you find you need to return something, you must let me know as soon as possible and within 14 days of receipt. I don’t accept items which I am not expecting. You are entitled to a refund of the price paid plus outward shipping paid. You pay to package the item and return it safely to me (please obtain ‘Proof of Postage’ at a minimum).

Outside the EU:

You are responsible for all shipping costs involved. Items delivered electronically, for example, patterns and books, are exempt. I take care to describe these accurately, and no refunds can be made due to their nature.

Classes:

If I need to cancel, move or reschedule the class or event you are entitled to a refund. Although you aren’t entitled to a refund if you change your mind or realise you can’t attend, if you need to cancel your place, please give me as much notice as possible so I can offer your place to somebody else. If someone else takes your place, I will give you a refund. I reserve the right to check the names on tickets matches my list – reselling is cheeky and not allowed.

Payment

How to order

Items are available to buy online (for example Facebook), or offline (for example craft fairs, demonstrations, other events).

I also welcome enquiries about a purchase or personalised commissions via email.

An order is considered placed once you receive email confirmation, and you will be notified of the price. Payment, Postage & Shipping Payment must be received prior to postage. Online, I accept payment through Paypal. (You can use this to make a credit or debit card payment without holding an account with them). Offline I accept cash and cheque by prior arrangement.

Delivery

I dispatch within 3 working days of payment clearing, often sooner. For UK orders, delivery will be via second class mail where apporpriate, and Non-UK will be standard airmail, and you are responsible for all taxes and fees associated with the package. If you need something else, let me know when you order so I can provide a revised price.

I want you to receive your items as soon as possible, but please allow 28 days after dispatch for delivery. I aim to photograph and describe items accurately, and they are inspected before dispatch, but if you are not delighted with your item I will endeavour to resolve any problems within reason. For personalised items and commissions, it’s your responsibility I have correct sizes/text etc. I sell in different venues, and because of this, it’s feasible an item is purchased from a different source, at the same time. If this does happen, I will email you as soon as I notice. The person who orders first will receive the item, and I may be able to reproduce it as closely as possible. If this happens, I will charge the price originally stated.
